Education Librarian
As the Education Librarian, I serve as liaison to the College of Education and Health Professions, which offers 48 degrees and has over 190 faculty members on staff. I act as the subject expert and materials selector for education, recreation, human resources, kinesiology, juvenile literature, and other subjects. I order materials using Gobi, and maintain seven separate funds totaling approximately $16,000. Additionally, I provide research consultations to undergraduates, graduate and doctoral students, and faculty across disciplines such as early childhood education, communication disorders, and sport management. Library instruction is a significant portion of my job and I teach course integrated, one-shot library instruction sessions for College of Education and Health Professions using unique lesson plans based on instructor and student needs.
McHenry County College
Adjunct Reference and Instruction Librarian
As an adjunct librarian at McHenry County College I staffed the reference desk 29 hours per week on a flexible and changing schedule. I provided reference services to a diverse community of learners including traditional students, adult learners, GED students, and English language learners; taught one-shot library instruction sessions for College Experience and English courses; and developed and implemented instructional support materials such as LibGuides, handouts, and online learning modules. During my time at McHenry County College I also had the opportunity to deliver and assess online assignments via Canvas LMS and create an online Library Virtual Tour module to support pre-existing Information Literacy program.
San Jacinto College
Outreach and Instruction Librarian
Instruction and Assessment
My primary responsibility at San Jacinto College was teaching information literacy skills to students via course-integrated instruction. I worked with professors from a wide range of departments to develop assignments and lesson plans that best met the needs of their students. While I primarily taught English, Speech, and College Readiness courses, I also developed lessons, assignments, and support materials for subjects such as Philosophy, Government, Business, and History. Below you can find examples of handouts I have created to support library instruction.

Education Librarianship
Graduate Research Assistant
Research Guides
One of my responsibilities as the Education Librarianship Graduate Research Assistant at the University of Texas at Austin Libraries is creating and maintaining a collection of online research guides. These guides are designed to support the learning of all Education students, from undergraduates to doctoral candidates, and range from broad topic overview to specific assignment guides.
The research guides I created in this position were built on Drupal, an open source content management system. The flexibility of this system allowed me to integrate widgets into our guides to encourage communication with our students. I designed a comment submission form and a chat widget, which you can see below.

Instruction and Assessment
During my time at the University of Texas at Austin Libraries I had the opportunity to teach in a variety of library instruction contexts. I co-taught two "Conducting a Literature Review" library instruction sessions, and designed and presented multiple course-integrated library instruction sessions. When preparing to teach a class, I determined the session's objectives, created an outline of what would be covered, and produced any materials needed to support student learning (ex: handouts or online research guides). After each instruction session I ask students to complete virtual or physical surveys to assess the success of the course. Below you'll find the supporting materials I created for a course-integrated session with an undergraduate course, as well as my online assessment form.

Diversity LibGuide
As the Librarianship Intern at Ellis Library, I worked with Cindy Cotner and Marlo Goldstein-Hode to create a LibGuide that would feature resources related to diversity, both on and off campus. Unfortunately, this project has yet to be published. Below you will find screenshots of the portions of the guide I created.

Conduct Manuals Display
As the Librarianship Intern, I also had the opportunity to design and create a display for the mezzanine in the main library on campus. I choose to highlight our library’s collection of conduct manuals, and enjoyed researching this topic and finding a selection of books in our holdings that could effectively and attractively represent this genre to our patrons.
